The third party monitoring team, MAXVIDEL, paid an official supervisory visit to the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (LPRES) in Enugu State to obtain a comprehensive progress report and assess ongoing activities across key project sites. The visit formed part of the broader accountability and performance tracking framework established to ensure that project implementation aligns with its core objectives of improving livestock productivity, strengthening resilience, and promoting sustainable agricultural development within the state.

Upon arrival, the team was warmly received by the State Project Coordinator, Dr.Ifeyinwa Nnajieze, who presented a detailed overview of the project’s journey under her supervision. In her presentation, she highlighted milestones achieved, strategic partnerships established, infrastructure developments completed and underway, as well as operational strategies designed to ensure long-term sustainability. She emphasized the collaborative efforts between the state government, implementing partners, and local stakeholders in driving the success of the initiative.

As part of the monitoring exercise, the delegation conducted an inspection of the newly commissioned LPRES Veterinary Hospital located in Akwuke. During the tour, comprehensive briefings were provided on the hospital’s operational readiness, the range of installed modern veterinary equipment, staffing structure, and proposed service delivery framework. The facility is designed to enhance access to quality animal healthcare services, improve disease surveillance and control, and support livestock farmers with professional veterinary interventions.

The monitoring team engaged extensively with project managers and technical personnel, raising critical questions concerning the hospital’s sustainability model, equipment maintenance plans, projected service capacity, and anticipated impact on livestock productivity across the state. Particular attention was given to ensuring that the facility would not only function effectively at launch but remain viable and impactful in the long term.

The delegation further proceeded to Ubahu, Amankanu in Enugu State to evaluate the ongoing construction of the Enugu State Livestock Development Centre. The inspection focused on assessing structural development, compliance with approved engineering specifications, adherence to project timelines, and implementation of quality assurance standards. Technical and administrative inquiries were raised to confirm that the construction aligns with the overarching goals and performance benchmarks of the LPRES initiative.

At the conclusion of the visit, the MAXVIDEL team expressed satisfaction with the measurable progress recorded thus far. They commended the LPRES Enugu team for maintaining steady structural advancement, and demonstrating strong administrative coordination. The monitoring exercise reinforced a shared commitment among all stakeholders to delivering sustainable livestock infrastructure that will strengthen animal health services, increase productivity, empower livestock farmers, and contribute significantly to the broader economic development of Enugu State.
