The National Coordinating Office of the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES) has conducted a monitoring visit to the Enugu State Integrated Livestock Development Centre located at Ubahu Amankanu, Enugu State, as part of its ongoing efforts to assess project implementation, evaluate progress, and ensure compliance with established project standards and objectives.

The monitoring team was led by the National Operations Manager, Dr. Wasiu Adeoye, alongside the Project Engineer, Engr. Hamza Lukman, and the Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist, Dr. Aliyu Ahmed.

During the visit, the team undertook an extensive inspection of the project facilities and various construction components at the centre. The inspection was facilitated by the project contractor, Mr. Jerry of AWAA, who conducted the team around the project site, providing explanations on the ongoing construction activities, the various infrastructural components, and the level of progress recorded.

The team expressed satisfaction with the level of work observed and commended the contractor for the progress made so far. They also demonstrated keen interest in the quality of construction, technical specifications, and the overall development of the facilities, emphasizing the importance of ensuring that the project meets the required standards, specifications, and objectives of the L-PRES programme.

The monitoring exercise provided an opportunity for the National Coordinating Office to assess the project’s implementation status, identify areas requiring attention, and reinforce the importance of timely delivery, quality assurance, and adherence to approved project designs.

The establishment of the Enugu State Integrated Livestock Development Centre represents a significant step towards transforming the livestock sector in the state. When fully completed and operational, the centre is expected to serve as a strategic hub for improved livestock production, processing, value addition, commercialization, and the adoption of modern livestock management practices.

The facility is also expected to strengthen the capacity of livestock farmers and other value-chain actors, create employment opportunities, stimulate private-sector investment, and contribute to improved food security and economic growth in Enugu State.

The visit underscores the commitment of the National Coordinating Office and the Enugu State L-PRES Project Implementation Unit to effective project supervision, accountability, quality infrastructure delivery, and the successful realization of the project’s development objectives.
