The first Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support (LPRES) SME–PFI Regional Training for the South-East zone commenced today, marking a significant step toward strengthening capacity and collaboration across key value chain sectors in the region.

The five-day training programme officially opened with a welcome address delivered by the Enugu State Project Coordinator, Dr. Ifeyinwa Elizabeth Nnajieze, who highlighted the importance of capacity building, stakeholder engagement, and sustainable value chain development in achieving the objectives of the LPRES project.

Day One of the training featured sessions facilitated by various subject-matter experts and resource persons, setting the tone for in-depth discussions and practical engagements planned throughout the programme. Participants are expected to gain critical insights into value chain financing, productivity enhancement, resilience building, and the role of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and Participating Financial Institutions (PFIs) in driving inclusive economic growth.

The regional training is designed to strengthen institutional capacity, improve access to finance, and promote effective collaboration among stakeholders within the livestock and agribusiness value chain. Over the course of the five days, participants will engage in interactive sessions, group discussions, and knowledge-sharing activities tailored to address region-specific challenges and opportunities.
The LPRES SME–PFI Regional Training underscores the project’s commitment to enhancing productivity, resilience, and sustainable development within the livestock sector, while empowering SMEs and financial institutions to play a more effective role in value chain transformation.

The training continues throughout the week, with expectations of measurable outcomes that will contribute to improved service delivery, strengthened partnerships, and long-term impact across the South-East zone.
