The Enugu State Government has officially inaugurated the Integrated Livestock Development Centre located in Ubahu/Amankanu, Nkanu East Local Government Area. This landmark event underscores the state’s commitment to advancing its agricultural transformation agenda, fostering livestock productivity, and enhancing food security.

 

The ceremony commenced with the arrival and formal introduction of distinguished guests, followed by the rendition of the National Anthem. In his welcome address, Dr. Patrick Ubru, the Commissioner for Agriculture and Agro-Industrialisation, emphasized the strategic significance of the centre as a catalyst for economic empowerment and sustainable development for livestock farmers throughout Enugu State.

Several key stakeholders conveyed their goodwill messages. Notably, Dr. Sanusi Abubakar, National Project Coordinator of the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES), and Dr. Chidozie Anyiro, Co-Team Technical Lead from the World Bank, both expressed strong support for the project’s vision. Additionally, Professor Udo, representing the Nigerian Institute of Animal Science, acknowledged the centre’s potential impact on advancing scientific research and best practices in animal husbandry.

Contractors engaged in the project reaffirmed their dedication to delivering robust and high-quality infrastructure that meets the centre’s operational goals.

Attendees were presented with an informative video detailing the project blueprint, including the centre’s architectural design, core facilities, and the phased development plan intended to sustain its long-term success.

The Honourable Minister of the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development, Muktar Maiha, also delivered insightful remarks, highlighting the national significance of the initiative.

The keynote address was delivered by the Deputy Governor of Enugu State, Barrister Ifeanyi Osai, on behalf of the Governor, reinforcing the state government’s unwavering support for agricultural innovation and livestock development.
The event concluded with a photo session and media interviews, capturing the milestone moment for public dissemination.
